(sede del Parco Nazionale delle Cinque Terre, 14 Aug 24) From the shadowy interstices of the carruggi to the colours of the Mediterranean gorgonian in the seabed, from the vertical houses to the sea opening up to the horizon: the Cinque Terre Photo Award launches the challenge to visual storytellers within the boundaries of the Cinque Terre National Park and Protected Marine Area.
There is time until 31 August to send in your photographs: participation is free, open to professionals and amateurs. There are two categories: Genius Loci and Naturalia.
The first photo contest, created by and for the Cinque Terre National Park and Protected Marine Area, sees the collaboration with Spazi Fotografici and is sponsored by FAI-Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, Touring Club Italiano and I Parchi Letterari Italiani.
A selected jury will choose the best single shots and the best photo series according to criteria that are not merely aesthetic.
The jurors are experts in the field of photography and communication, in search of technical quality, thematic coherence and, last but not least, originality: Donatella Bianchi, journalist and President of the Cinque Terre National Park; Gilberto Benni, Head of Leica Classic Italy and of Leica Akademie Italy; Ottavio Di Brizzi, editorial director of the Italian Touring Club; Davide Di Gennaro, graphic designer and co-founder of the TomoTomo studio; Sara Fregoso, photographer; Davide Marcesini, photographer and director of Spazi Fotografici; Stanislao de Marsanich, president of I Parchi Letterari Italiani; Alberto Luca Recchi, photographer, writer and underwater explorer; Barbara Verduci, photoeditor of FAI - Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano.
The awards are enriched by numerous partnerships: Spazi Fotografici, Leica Akademie, Pro Loco of Riomaggiore/Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso, Cantina Cooperativa Cinque Terre and Cantina Sassarini/A Scià, Diving Cinque Terre.
The winners of the Genius Loci section will win EUR 1,500; the runners-up will receive an overnight stay for two people in Vernazza, a dinner, a wine experience offered by the Cantina Cooperativa Cinque Terre and the Cinque Terre Card; the third prize winner will receive a voucher for a Leica Akademie training course and a dinner.
