The trail sets off nearby a small bridge over the stream named Rio Groppo, just past the intersection with provincial road SP 51. Leave on your left a tabernacle with a fountain on its side (water is drinkable), and on your right, a few steps further, the starting point of trail 502 Sella di Monte Galera.
The trail goes across the hamlet of Groppo and then bends northbound. Passing through gardens and olive groves, it reaches a crossroads in the vicinity of a rural building, from which it takes the stairway to the right, going uphill among cultivated terraces. After meeting again provincial road SP 51, a stairway leads you up to the intersection with a paved tract of trail 530 (Via dei Santuari). From there on the trail shares a short stretch with 530, and then separates to continue into the woods until it reaches the trail 506 Manarola - Monte Marvede.
