Deviazione sul posto dopo il Santuario di Reggio in direzione Drignana
Historical mule track linking Vernazza with the villages situated all over the uplands, and the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Reggio. The path begins in the village of Vernazza, near the train station, and its first stretch avails itself of the historical Pastenello staircase. From here, follow the street leading to the cemetery and, walking along the perimeter wall, take the historical paved road. The route is traditionally used for the religious procession of the Way of the Cross, therefore some marble bas-reliefs with sacred images (the Stations of the Cross) are situated on the edge of it, enclosed in tabernacles or set in the dry-stone walls delimiting the terraces cultivated with grapevine. The path goes on among the olive trees up to the locality of San Bernardo, where a small oratory is consecrated to the saint. From there on, the slope becomes gentler and leads to the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora di Reggio, which first appeared on documents in 1284.
