In Campiglia - which is also an important stop along the AV5T - take Vico Codemin, which begins as a road but soon turns into a track across well-kept terraces (on some of them the Campiglia Association has reintroduced the cultivation of saffron). From the panoramic spot with the wooden bench the path begins to go downhill through a progressively denser wood (evergreen oak) to a carved vertical cliff. Nearby, the track to Schiara (504C) branches off on the left, but the present itinerary follows the main path, slightly downhill, crosses the Schiara dike at a lovely spot in the wood, and reaches the first hairpin bend of the S.Antonio-Schiara tarmac road.
Take the road downhill and leave it at the next hairpin bend; the path's first 150 metres coincide with route No 504. At the Napoleonic fountain of Nozzano (drinkability to be checked) turn left, thus leaving No 504; the oak wood is soon replaced by vineyards. At the next junction take path No 536 to Monesteroli, downhill; at 259m a.s.l.
