Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi

The itinerary connecting the churches situated in the piedmont area of Dolomiti Bellunesi suggests an unusual route across the nature, history, art, and culture of these valleys, today not very well known, but in the past busy ways of transit, finding rest and solace in the peace of the places of worship. Pilgrims visited these inaccessible sacred places with the hope to obtain a particular grace: each Saint had his/her own specific "competence" and the pilgrims used to come from nearby and far places, facing the effort of the journey sure to be fulfilled. The current aspect of such buildings is given in most cases by the result of subsequent renovation works decided by pastoral dispositions and the evolution of liturgy, but also by the love and care of the believers, who contributed with part of their scarce incomes to the decoration of their small sanctuaries. The visit to these isolated and enchanting small churches will be an unforgettable experience combining the extraordinary work of nature with the creativity and wits of man.
