Together with Camaldoli, La Verna Sanctuary is one of the religious centers of the National Park. Linked to the image of St. Francis who, according to the legend, received the stigmata right here, today La Verna is a destination for many pilgrims. The religious orders present in Foreste Casentinesi have been able to create a peculiar relationship with nature. As a matter of fact, the relationship between Nature and Religion still exists and is constantly fed by the spiritual vitality of the religious communities living in Camaldoli and La Verna.
