Maybe not everyone knows that Foreste Casentinesi National Park belongs to a system of European protected areas called Natura 2000 Network. It is a European network of sites protecting, all over the continent, a series of areas of particular conservation interest characterized by the presence of precious habitats and species, well representing the European natural heritage. If we want to look for the reasons leading to the creation of this Network, we should consider the continuous loss of biodiversity at a global level.
