Sant'Antonio Forest has always been synonymous with fairy-tale landscapes. In the classical period it was considered a lucus, that is, a sacred forest dedicated to Jupiter and in the Medieval period it was dedicated to S. Antonio. The forest extends for 550 hectares on an area saved from the cutting of trees to provide shelter for cattle. Thanks to this ban and to the pruning technique called "capitozzatura", the trees reach monumental sizes and are candelabra shaped.
