Senise Sweet Pepper

Senise sweet pepper obtained the PGI label in 1996. It is produced in Senise and in other twelve towns of Sinni valley. It is characterized by a thin pulp and a low content in liquids, that makes it easier to dry in the sun after being arranged by hand in the classical necklaces. This sweet pepper can be eaten fresh or dry after frying in abundant olive oil.

  • Territory: Municipality of Senise, after which it has been named, and other 12 adjacent Municipalities mainly facing Valle del Sinni and Agri.
  • Shape: pointed, truncated, or hooked.
  • Size/Weight: length varying from 10 to 17 cm, weight 10-12g
  • Consistency: wrinkled and friable when you cut it
  • Production period: August-October
