The Visitor Center "Il legno, materiale di vita in Val Tartano" (Wood, an essential material in Tartano Valley) is situated in the former school premises in loc. Piana, Val Lunga, one of the lateral valleys in which Tartano Valley branches off.
The Visitor Center is linked to a botanic garden housing the main arboreal species of the valley and to an ancient sawmill.
"Wood" works as the thread for a tale starting from the past and getting to a broader reflection on the importance of the safeguard of the woodland ecosystem.
The goal is to preserve and enhance local culture and identity and give visitors the opportunity to discover and understand the past and future value of the "wood" resource.
