Orobie Botanic Garden has been established with the aim to preserve the most characteristic alpine vegetable species of Lombardy, in order to protect the floristic richness of Orobie Valtellinesi Regional Park and promote its knowledge. The Garden lies in the heart of Orobie, in Valtartano, at 1,450m of altitude, surrounded by an untouched natural setting, among forests, rivers, alpine pastures, summits and springs, where it is not difficult to find fine mushrooms, meet marmots, chamois, roe deer, or even the golden eagle. You can reach it after a walk during which you can admire ancient rural settlements with characteristic buildings, natural monuments like giant's potholes, meadows, and grazing cows.
The Garden, aiming at naturalistic promotion, deals especially with the spontaneous species of Orobie Valtellinesi Park, paying particular attention to rare, endangered, or protected vegetables species and vegetable species with medicinal properties.
Opening times: Visits from May to October.
Entrance fee: Admission free.
For organized groups and school groups requiring tour guide, booking required.
