Exactly on the northern slopes of Mt. Plauris massif, the geological features of the territory have represented for over a century a solid reference point for the activities of the whole local community: as a matter of fact, Rio Resartico mines have been for a long time one of the main sources of income for the inhabitants of Resiutta.
The hard miners' life is witnessed by some ruins, the galleries dug into the mountain with the strength of their arms, and by several evidences now collected by the Park Authority in an exhibit dedicated to the local mining activity.
The several panels, completed by charming photos, illustrate the activities carried out in the mine, the history of the surveys, the geological and naturalistic aspects of the area. There is also the life-size reconstruction of a tunnel with a corf inside.
On display, samples of rocks, in particular the bituminous schists that were extracted and tools used by miners.
The exhibit is completed by a relief model of the valley representing the geological strata and the tunnels and by a multimedia presentation of the documents collected during the research activities.
