It was dug to obtain a place where they could keep the beer fresh. Indeed, in Resiutta, in 1844, some Carinthian entrepreneurs began to produce the beer by using the excellent water of the Resia stream. Then, in 1881, the production developed thanks to Francesco Dormisch's factory.
Today, thanks to the EU funds, the gallery has been renovated, made safe and opened to the public. Within the structure some exhibitions show the story of its building and of the beer production in Resiutta. They also give some information about some animal species connected with the cavity's environment.
