Parco Naturale Regionale delle Prealpi Giulie

The Montasio Alpine Meadow, in the Municipality of Chiusaforte on the upland of the same name - between 1,500 and 1,800 meters above sea level - is surrounded by the majestic mountain chains of the Canin and the Montasio, and it stretches over a territory of 1.064 hectares, half of which is used for grazing. In these meadows the cattle find the ideal environmental and management conditions that allow them to produce high quality milk. The dairy factory is managed by the breeders association "Associazione Allevatori Friuli Venezia Giulia".

The Montasio cheese has been chosen for the "Paniere" project since its high quality is based on the rich biodiversity present in the pastures.
