Along this stretch of river, the most interesting element is the Nature Reserve of Plata Menasciutto, including the river, two lateral oxbows, and some wetlands with hygrophilous vegetation dominated by willows, poplars, and rare black alders. Not far, the two Municipalities of Pianengo and Ricengo, departure points for the visit to the Reserve and situated at only 5 km from the town of Crema.
Within the reserve you will find the so-called "Palata", today made of concrete, but in the past made of wooden poles: it deviates the water of the river into the irrigation ditch Menasciutto, which is still used nowadays with irrigation purposes. Among the species to safeguard there are the Italian Agile Frog and the Crested Newt.
