When at the beginning of the 19th century Domenico Berra started to
study sewage fields, he could not avoid retracing the history of the
lower territory of Milan, highlighting how the agronomic choices were
linked to the most important moments of the process that from the early
Middle Ages to the Napoleonic Age led Milan among the top of the
Italian cities.
