Parco del Lago Trasimeno

Guida Blu 2013

The Trasimeno achieves the first place in the 5-sails rank of the Blue Guide by Legambiente and Touring Club

(Tuoro sul Trasimeno, 15 Jul 13) Tuoro Sul Trasimeno won first place in the rank of the best lake areas listed in the Blue Guide by Legambiente and Touring Club: this results could be achieved thanks to this territory's ability to combine, over the years, tourism with a proper safeguard of both landscape and natural environment, thanks to the sustainable management of the territory and to the protection and enhancement of the landscape, together with high quality wine and food offers and the development of eco-friendly sport activities in the open air.

This guide's aim is to locate the best places offering a union of dream holidays and quality ones, and it awards a prize to five places around the Trasimeno area: Tuoro sul trasimeno was awarded 5 sails, while Castiglione del Lago, Magione, Passignano sul Trasimeno and Piediluco were awarded 4 sails.

Alessandra Paciotto, president of Legambiente-Umbria, says that "it is an excellent result which shows how it has been possible to combine over the years the significant tourist flows with the safeguard of the landscape and of the environment characterized by a high nature value, such as groves of reeds and many bird species living there. Trasimeno's and Piediluco's landscapes are mainly cultural landscapes where human presence harmoniously becomes part of nature. From now on the communities of the Umbrian lakes will have to show to be even more able to combine the safeguard of nature's richness and beauty with the beauty of this territory's history and culture, without exploiting new areas as it happened in the past. On this purpose also eco-friendly sports and amateur activities can play a significant role".

It is a considerable result and an important challenge at the same time for Trasimeno, which will have to both keep and improve the high quality level achieved over the years.
