Starting from the cemetery of Mongiovino, located near the Sanctuary, you continue on the unsurfaced road going towards the hill where you can spot the hamlet of Mongiovino Vecchio. You cross, keeping halfway up in the direction of Buca del Calicinaro, a hilled area characterized by the presence of ancient farmhouses, in part crumbled, many olive orchards, vineyards, cultivated lands and portions of woods. You continue, losing altitude, crossing a zone rich in ditches, forks, and intersections where you should pay much attention to follow the trail signs; after this, you begin to rise, crossing a thick woods of Downy oak, heathers, viburnum, privet, and Turkey oak. Hiking over trails that are pleasant in every season, you reach to the Buca del Calcinaro pass (395 m. amsl), which takes its name from a small furnace, whose remains are still present, that was once used to cook lime. Keeping on the right you proceed in the direction of Muserale until the homonym pull-in area, equipped with horse roofing, after having passed near locality Scornabecco and having the Villa of Monte Solare in front of you. After some sudden ups and downs into a mixed woods particularly rich in wild asparagus, you get back to the Buca del Calcinaro. Take the dirt road going towards Panicale and then turn in the direction of the quaint top of Mount Civitella (498 m. amsl), characterized by a plume of trees. Continue straight along the very panoramic unsurfaced road – Nestore Valley, Piegaro, Montarale, Petravella, Panicale – among the olive trees; passing by the Lombo Farmhouse, this road leads us to the hamlet of Mongiovino Vecchio (490 m. amsl), where a quick stop is advised. At the votive aedicule, take the tarmac road descending to locality Paolinami, where you take a left along an unsurfaced route that will take you back to the Sanctuary of Madonna di Mongiovino.
