Trekking 25 Passignano - Poggio Belveduto

  • Trail Conditions: On foot
  • Interest: Flora, Panorama, Hystory
  • Departure: Passignano sul Trasimeno
  • Duration: 3 hour/s 30 minutes
  • Difficulty Level: T - Tourist (level)
  • Length: 11.62 km

The starting point of this itinerary is represented by the central plaza of Passignano, in the vicinity of the Town Hall. We recommend a walk through the centre and to take the staircase which reaches the historic hamlet. Leave the hamlet and proceed uphill, first taking the itinerary 50 and then, following the signs, an unsurfaced road which goes towards Le Masse. The trail immediately offers great panoramic views towards the lake. Once you arrive at the agglomerate of Le Masse, with the old rose-painted villa and the church, continue straight in light descent alongside the principal villa and, after crossing plain or slightly uphill fields, you will reach the houses in the area of Cerqueto among the olive trees. From there, proceed until reaching a little group of houses around the lovely church of San Donato, located in a panoramic and strategic position above the Trasimeno lake. We suggest a break for a short visit. Then turn back a little, alongside some farm houses, and arrive, in locality La Martinella, at the principal villa, decorated with notable arboreal examples and then at the wide gravel road with an avenue of cypresses. From here, proceed by climbing up into the woods and, after a few hairpin bends, you will skirt alongside a first farmhouse on the right and arrive at a second renovated farmhouse, which hosts a restaurant, panoramically located above the lake. Continue the walk along the dirt road, always keeping to the right of an avenue of cypresses which, after a few hairpin bends in the woods, meets on the top the Trecime – La Cima road, at the Civitella Tower (607 m). The vast crest path allows you to admire one of the most beautiful views in all the territory of Trasimeno. Then you begin to descend, facing the typical conical top, where the ruins of Mount Ruffiano are located. Crossing the areas of San Donato, La Martinella, Cerqueto, and Le Masse, partially on new trails and partially on tracks already done, you return to Passignano.
