  • Duration: 4 hour/s 30 minutes
  • Difficulty Level: E - Hiking (level)
  • Length: 13.14 km

Starting from the cemetery of Torale (296 m), immersed in an olive orchard, you can climb easily until a little hamlet (334 m), where an agrotourism is located. We cross one of the best known areas for the production of Trasimeno quality olive oil. You can observe the two different cultivation techniques used: above you can admire the classic olive trees "a vaso" typical of our hills, below, in the final tract of this itinerary, you notice the disposition and the behaviour typical of the intensive olive culture. Continue to climb until you arrive, after changing path a few times, at the cemetery of Vernazzano (437 m), where you turn to the right and take the ample road rising towards Tassinaie. Along this stretch on the left you skirt a horse ranch and on the right a quite original building which hosts a museum of farming culture. After Tassinaie, turn to the left and cross a high woods which skirts a trench until you arrive at a sunny natural terrace, where a lovely rectangular farmhouse is located. Continue through rises and falls until you reach, paying attention to the signs, the first houses of Cima di Tuoro or Gosparini. Now we are under Mount Castiglione, 802 meters, one of the most important relies of this hill chain. Continue walking, touching the maximum altitude of this itinerary at 704 meters, then go straight and take the trail which descends into the woods. The trees open up after a little while on another panoramic terrace, where you find a particularly successful example of renovation of an old farmhouse (Casa Vagile). Now you continue through some low vegetation until you reach the street which comes from Mount Castiglione. Keep right and reach a pasture zone rich in heathers and particularly suggestive for the glimpse on the basin of Trasimeno and the relieves of the Umbertide area. After meeting horses at pasture, you reach the Renaglia house (596 m), characterised by the enormous rocky outcropping on which it is built. From there you descend towards the Villa del Pischiello, crossing portions of woods composed of holm oaks, strawberry trees, cistus, broom shrubs, downy oaks, then ancient olive orchards which open on a beautiful view of the lake. You reach the monumental avenue of cypresses of Pischiello, following it downhill for a while until turning to the right to a little street, which will take you back to the cemetery of Torale.
