The Parco Valpometto has been officially recognized as a PLIS (Local Park extending over many municipalities) by the Region Lombardy and included in the regional guide of parks. It can be considered as the wonderful result deriving from the passion and commitment of the Gruppo Ambiente Ardea, an organisation composed of volunteers from Robbio who so strongly - since 1995 - wanted to make their contribution to the establishment of the park, that they managed to realize a big and vital "green lung" in the heart of Robbio's territory, where paddy fields extend over most of the area. The Park, with its different environments such as the wetland Fontaneto, meadows and forests of the Valpometto and the less accessible forestal area of Tombone extends over 327 hectares, out of which about 36 ha belong to the city, which carried out the renaturalization of the area by planting local timber trees. The forests can assure the permanence of many animal species: the hazel dormouse, the least weasel, the european polecat, the european badger, the fox etc., as well as migratory and sedentary birds inhabiting the area.
