Transition mire with predominance of the lowland mires' features. The peat bog developed due to the over-flood of hollows situated along the Val Gambis, and with its definitely horizontal outline it covers most of the site's surface.
The water supply is guaranteed by some rivulets, such as the Rio Gambis, which becomes an emissary of the peat bog downstream. The wetland is surrounded by spruce forests that partially tend to invade the mire itself.
