Along the Piedmont shore of Lago Maggiore, between Arona and Castelletto Ticino, for an approximate length of four kilometers and an area of about 157 hectares there is Canneti di Dormelletto Special Nature Reserve. Regione Piemonte, in agreement with the Municipality and Lago Maggiore Nature Reserve and Park Authority, aimed at preserving such environment, recovering it, and using it respecting its nature features. It represents one of the last examples in the area of Novara, together with those of Piana di Fondo Toce, transition area between land and water dominated by spontaneous vegetation consisting of canebrakes.
