Site's importance

The wetland hosts vegetational associations typical of the "raised" peat bog which are rare on the southern slope of the Alps. Among them we mention some of the peat bog's most typical plants: Carex limosa L., Carex pauciflora Lightf., Pseudorchis albida (L.) A. & D. Löwe e Scheuchzeria palustris L.
Among the species living in the small wetland there are the the alpine newt, the common toad, the common frog, the grass snake, the viviparous lizard.
