Siracusa is a town with a very ancient seafaring tradition, a cultural reference point for the Mediterranean area, dominated since ancient times by history and nature.
Plemmirio, mentioned by Virgil, is the prehistorical village on the coast of Siracusa giving the name to the marine protected area which will be established in the future in Penisola Maddalena Capo Murro di Porco.
After considering and knowing in detail the excellence of the naturalistic values of the area, the birth of Plemmirio Marine Park - as it is already generally called by the local community - has an originality deserving a particular reflection on the process leading to the formation and development of the project even before its formal establishment.
Siracusa was listed among the recovered marine areas only three years ago: as a matter of fact, the demand of the town for the enhancement of the extraordinary marine heritage in a unique landscapes scenery for splendor and richness can no longer be ignored.
