Monte San Calogero faces the gulf of Termini Imerese. Its name probably derives from the fact that its territory, extending between Caccamo and Termini, was populated by the so-called "calogheri", that is hermits choosing to live their holiness in the silence and loneliness of those lands. These hermits were worshiped by the local people: this devotion gave origin to the worship of St Calogero.
