The Nature Reserve (3,680 ha) extends over the massif including the mounts Eremita (1,579 m) and Marzano (1,527 m), in the municipalities of Colliano, Laviano and Valva, in the province of Salerno.
Quiet extended woods, with centuries-old trees, alternate with wide meadows and pastures, creating a landscape of extraordinary beauty. The fauna includes rare species such as the wolf, the European pine marten, the wildcat, the badger, the common buzzard, the common raven, the woodpecker, the common blackbird, the kestrel, the Eurasian bullfinch, the hawfinch.
There are many CAI paths, such as the "Francesco Tullio" path ending in Pescopagano and connecting Campania with Basilicata. Among the protected area's attractions there is the Laviano's simple suspension bridge, an innovative facility leading to the Reserve's heart through a fascinating path for trekking.
