Sambuchetti Campanito Reserve has an exceptional naturalistic value for the variety of environments and the biodiversity characterizing the area. The mountain system, to which the mountains Campanito (1,514 m above sea level) and Sambuchetti (1,559 m above sea level) belong, is a chain running parallel to the nearby Nebrodi and sharing with them important geological features: deposits of Numidian Flysch, mainly formed by sediments accumulating for the action of underwater currents and then outcropping in subsequent stages. The environment is mainly used for agricultural, sylvicultural, and breeding purposes and is not characterized by significant archaeological or historical features.
In the surroundings, it is possible to visit Sperlinga and its famous castle rising on a summit dominating the surrounding landscape. |
