Quality and importance: area with arid meadows and thermophil woods on a calcareous substrate. A mosaic of environments with small walls, hedges, vineyards and mowing meadows. The presence of orchids and of other thermophil plant species makes the site significant also from the vegetation point of view.
Vulnerability: The abandonment of the less accessible areas threatens the survival of the arid meadows because of the gradual growing of the forest. The mechanical mowing and the use of pesticides cause environmental alterations. The presence of farms leads to the spread of ruderal and nitrophilous environments.
Types of priority habitats of community interest (Annex I of the Habitats directive):
6110 - Rupicolous calcareous or basophilic grasslands of the
Alysso-Sedion albi.
6210 - Semi-natural dry grasslands and scrubland facies on calcareous substrates (Festuco-Brometalia) (important orchid sites).
Bird species subjected to special conservation measures (Annex I of the Birds directive): Red-backed shrike, Black kite, European honey buzzard.
Animal and plant species of community interest whose conservation needs the designation of Special Areas of Conservation (Annex II of the Habitats directive):
Invertebrates: Jersey tiger, great capricord beetle, stag beetle.
