The area is located in a very particular position in the upper Friuli plain. The Tagliamento river, thanks to its longitudinal development, actually represents a corridor connecting various areas of the region: in the North-West the Friulian Dolomites, in the North-East the Alps and the Julian Prealps, in the south the high Adriatic. Moreover, in the stretch of the high plain where the site is located, moving at a distance of only 20 km, you will come across the largest gravel river beds in the region: those of the Cellina-Meduna and of the Tagliamento: this vast territory brings together the largest surfaces of the entire Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Inside the site you could fully appreciate the beauty of the Tagliamento habitats: it is easy to understand why it is considered as one of the best-preserved Alpine rivers in Europe because it is actually natural and free of large hydraulic works.
