The Parco delle Cascine di Tavola, nowadays an equipped public park, is a resource of high cultural, landscape and environmental value where still today it is possible to well recognize the original shape and design of the ancient farmhouse dating back to 1479, when Lorenzo the Magnificent commissioned from Giuliano da San Gallo the building of the villa in Poggio a Caiano, and bought many lands in the surroundings at the same time in order to create, next to the main villa, a wide area dedicated to agriculture, hunting and amusement.
The present council planning locates different areas for different uses: public areas (functioning as a public park, equipped park, recreational area), experimental agricultural areas (for research and didactic purposes) and private areas for sports/agricultural activities.
