Situated in San Giuliano Terme, very near to the watershed between the provinces of Pisa and of Lucca, the Protected Area is characterized by a particular landscape with olive groves and terraced lands, supported by dry stone walls, and by a garrigue extremely rich in spontaneous orchids. The paths connect the different points of interest such as the remains of the Villa of Sigismondo de Bosniaski (who was a Polish naturalist) dating back to 1870, and an Etruscan/Medieval archaeological settlement.
There are a Park Center, a Guesthouse with 10 beds and a "Giardino dei Profumi", that is a garden with a collection of aromatic and medicinal plants.
It is possible to visit the Protected Area through the Multimedia Museum at the Center for Information and Documentation of Protected Areas in San Giuliano Terme Station.
