Fossil forest (photo by RR Ponte del Diavolo)

The characteristic one-span bridge is situated at the borders of the town of Lanzo, in the confluence area between the torrents Tesso and Stura. The area must be protected for its particular features, to avoid that the human impact may endanger their integrity. Of great interest the architectural features represented by the medieval "Ponte del Diavolo" (Devil's Bridge) and the Chapels of San Rocco and San Giacinto, besides the geological formations called "marmitte dei giganti" (Giant's Kettles), situated immediately upstream the bridge. Everything surrounded by a woodland formation which, although of no particular botanic-forest interest, plays an important landscape role and offers a series of very different species, from the solid oaks to the birches.
