The castle of Canossa, built on a cliff of white sandstone and which became a national monument in the last century, leaves much to the imagination: only a few ruins survive from the ancient grandeur. However, the undoubted historical value remains, which makes it a cultural destination visited each year by over thirty thousand visitors who come here repeating the famous penitential gesture of Henry IV. The village is also of particular interest, where it is possible to visit an interesting rustic stone complex. To see the national museum "N. Campanini ", which collects the findings emerged during the archaeological excavations of the last decades (closed on Mondays - for information: ph. +39 0522.877104).
