A River Surrounded by History

The Park includes the territories situated along the course of the river Adda, in particular along the stretch crossing the high plain below the lake of Como and including the lakes of Garlate and Olginate. This stretch of river winds across the narrow banks with typical outcroppings of conglomerate reefs (the so-called "ceppo") and it forms a characteristic landscape where thick woods alternate with more populated areas.
The most interesting area from a naturalistic point of view is the one covered by the wide wetland of the marsh in Brivio. Of particular importance are the archaeological and monumental features, with some hydraulic engineering works dating back to the beginning of the century like Leonardo's locks (Trezzo sull'Adda), the bridge in Paderno, and the industrial village of Crespi d'Adda.
