Rice

In the territory of Lodi, about 2,000 ha of rice are cultivated mainly around the provincial capital and along the western stretch bordering with the province of Pavia. The rice-growing tradition is still today rather respected through the cultivation of top-quality varieties, including the very famous Carnaroli that in these lands does its best and becomes the most-sought after and the most appreciated variety by risotto enthusiasts. Despite its modest performance and a not very good resistance to external agents, the tradition for the production of this quality variety has been maintained over the years and, still today, exploiting the particular vocation of the territory, guarantees decent quantities of an excellent quality product.
