The Park extends along the lower course of river Adda, between Rivolta d'Adda in the north and Castelnuovo Bocca d'Adda, at the mouth of river Po, in the south. It includes the flat stretch of the river characterized by wide agricultural fields, natural and semi-natural woodlands and poplar grove cultivations. The remaining wetlands and the oxbows are remarkable from a naturalistic point of view, indeed they are rich in aquatic birds, like the nature reserve "Adda morta" and Zerbaglia, housing the largest heronry of the Park.
