The origin of Alagna dates back to the late 13th century, when a
German population belonging to the Walser ethnic group came and
settled in the south of the Alps.
Daverio was the first one to make an appeal to save the remains of the building miracle that had transformed the human landscape of Alagna into a heritage to preserve jealously. As a matter of fact, the German settlers of Alagna have left an extraordinary evidence of architectural harmony in the wooden houses and in the many villages (about thirty) forming this community.
