Meeting Point of Different Environmental Features
Situated between Val di Susa and Val di Viù, Colle del Lys offers a charming panorama going from the plain in the north of Turin to the plain of Cuneese area, and to Alpi Marittime. Since it lies along an important migratory route, the Park welcomes a rich and diversified avifauna; moreover, it is characterized by various habitats housing an important biological diversity. However, nature is not the one and only protagonist of these places: the hill was theater of important historical events, and the visitors will find themselves surrounded by the places which were the cradle of the Resistance movement in Piedmont. The area is also characterized by interesting architectural and landscape features for the presence of Madonna della Bassa Sanctuary, an important pilgrimage destination.
