The iron itinerary, if walked from north to the south, offers the opportunity to visit in chronological order the places for the iron and steel processing. One starts from the iron works of Belagaio, Torniella and Gabellino (ancient places for the metal melting activities in the Middle Ages) and then one finds the Accesa furnaces, whose plants were completely renovated in 1784 and dismantled in 1830 due to the development of the Follonica's plants (after 1840 those furnaces were turned into furnaces for the copper melting).
