It is a rural art, and therefore a poor art which, forgotten among the other old things, it is a pleasure to rediscover, thinking about the time when sincerity, naturalness, and simplicity had the taste of genuine things. As a matter of fact, once the eggs were painted with flowers, herbs, onions, etc. They represented the wish of the people to rediscover their roots, their own "kin", to go back to healthy traditions (simple, poor, but very sincere). This tradition has been preserved by the people who work voluntarily to organize every year the OvoPinto Exhibit - National Contest. The Exhibit houses thousands of eggshells of all animal species (from ostrich to canaries), painted and/or engraved by expert artists or amateurs and put on display (ordered according to the year or the theme) in this tiny but characteristic and original Museum, unique in the world.
