Since 1278, the latter had been delegated to preserve the most important municipal documents in a special armarium or casket with two keys, one in the hands of the monastery guardian, and the other guarded by the town judge. The slowly transfer of this heritage to San Fortunato complex began in 1981 and, after 1993, the modern premises now housing the historical archives of several institutions of Todi were planned and built: they include about three kilometers of metal shelves. The new premises were inaugurated on 23rd March 1998.
The structure offers a studio where it is possible to ask for the help of an officer and consult the documents.
It is possible to make photo reproductions.
