Parco del Frignano

It grows between 500 and 2,220m of altitude, in the undergrowth and in not very sunny pastures. Both its fruit - a bluish berry with violet pulp - and its leaves are used, the latter for medicinal purposes. The fruits ripen between July and September and, in Frignano Park, the gathering of these fruits is regulated. Fresh fruits are used to prepare syrups and sauces to eat together with game and poultry.
