The didactic district of Exilles, Chiomonte, Gravere

The idea to write this book was born from a great heritage of oral recollections and by a great passion for period photographs, tangible memories preserved by each family in some drawer. The photos of the school groups taken in our valleys until the first half of the past century tell about lively and populated mountains which are still alive in the memories of the elderly. It has been a hard work: first of all, a survey on the various laws issued on this them from the Unification of Italy onwards was carried out. Afterwards, for each Municipality, the historical archives were consulted, especially for Exilles and Gravere; for Chiomonte, where the historical archive has not been cleaned up yet, filling in cards that could provide the best possible overall view on teachers, teaching methods, and also the practical problems to obtain an adequate education. The three authors have decided to know more about the schools of their towns (Chiomonte, Exilles and Gravere) that, today as in the past, belong to the same didactic direction. The only difference is that today there is only one school... in Chiomonte!
