The Water Museum permanent education centre is located in the premises of the former Paraturi mill, in Via Cesare Terranova, in the municipality of Scillato.
It is the result of a collaboration between the Madonie Park Authority and the Department of Geology and Geodesy of the University of Palermo, in the municipality of Scillato, which has always been known for the abundance of water in its territory.
A didactic itinerary that tells the story of water and its cycle through explanatory panels and interactive models, aimed at making schoolchildren and visitors aware of the correct use of this precious liquid.
The Water Museum was inaugurated in 2008, as part of the Salvalarte Madonie event, thus falling within the circuit of the International Year of Planet Earth, Earth Sciences for Society, Italian Commission, proclaimed by UNESCO, to promote all those activities that contributed to achieving the objectives of sustainable development on our Planet.
It is an integral part of the Madonie Geopark Museum which also includes, the Collisani Museum of Petralia Sottana e il Civic Museum of Caltavuturo, has the logo of UNESCO, Earth Sciences for Society.
The Museum also has a video Water Museum, where water lives (also in English) and it is used at the end of guided tours.
