The Museum houses the collections created by the naturalist Francesco Minà Palumbo during his studies in the Madonie area between 1837 and 1899.
These collections include finds from all over the Madonie region relating to flora, fauna, geology, prehistory, history, agriculture, industry, etc. They therefore offer a complete picture of Natural History, the history of the Madonie region, and human activity in the area from its origins to the end of the 19th century and represent the key to understanding the mountainous region, which is universally recognised as the most important biogeographical unit in Sicily and the central Mediterranean.
