The Civic Museum of Castelbuono, located in the Municipal Castle (formerly the Ventimiglia Castle), is the cultural institution entrusted by the Municipality with the conservation and enhancement of its monumental, historical, artistic, literary and ethno-anthropological heritage. The tour starts with a visit to the most important archaeological sites and the reconstruction of the castle's history, including finds and documents, alongside an exhibition of the historical memory of the entire town. The first floor houses the modern and contemporary art gallery, the main nucleus of which currently consists of the Luigi Di Piazza donation fund, which includes 35 works, including paintings and sculptures, from the period between 1965 and 1993, including works by Bardi, Cagli, Carmassi, Schifano and Ortega.
The second floor, in addition to the prestigious Chapel of St. Anne with its fine stuccoes by Serpotta, will host an exhibition of the treasures and sacred furnishings of the Palatine Chapel, while the reception hall will be used for literary meetings, concerts and other cultural events.
