Parco Naturale Regionale delle Madonie

Three wonderful monumental trees, many hundreds of years old, can be seen near the entrance to the Pomieri hotel along the Petralia Sottana Piano Battaglia provincial road and the Pomieri trail of the same name.  The first to be reached is the Pomieri oak, estimated to be about 600 years old, 22 metres high and has a crown of 450 square metres, immediately followed by a field maple, which is about 500 years old and has a crown of 420 square metres. The last example of a nature monument to be found at Passo Canale, which is about 400 years old and has a crown of 300 square metres.
