Selva Moricento is one of the five ancient forests of the Abruzzo National Park, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The vast area occupied by this ancient beech forest, one of the oldest in Europe with beech trees over 500 years old, can be reached on foot with a path that does not present particular technical difficulties, but which nevertheless goes deep into one of the most remote corners of the Park. Between sinkholes, clearings and ridges it extends for hundreds of hectares and is home to bears, wolves and many rare species of insects and birds. The great biodiversity that characterizes it allows you to see signs of life everywhere among the ancient trees that create a magical and very peaceful atmosphere.
