In the Middle Ages, Mt. d'Elio was characterized by the presence of the town of Devia. Of the ancient town center, born as a Slavic colony, ruins of houses and traces of the fortresses built by the Byzantines in the 11th century have been preserved. However, the most important evidence is represented by Santa Maria Church, whose interior is decorated by a wonderful cycle of frescoes dating back between the 12th and 13th century.
The itinerary continues with a visit to the Historical, Ethnographic, and Rural Culture Museum situated in the charming square housing Palazzo Fioritto, the heart of the ancient town, and then ends with the tour to Dolina Pozzatina situated along the road leading to San Marco in Lamis.
